DescriptionIn 1916, Montana voters sent Jeannette Rankin to Congress, the first woman elected to national office. This film chronicles her life as a prominent speaker, lobbyist, and suffragist organizer. After voting against U.S. entry into World War I "I want to stand by my country, but I cannot vote for war"she worked for peace groups.
